What’s in a name?
No desideratum here to wonder whether the woman will take her husband’s name in marriage.
The Kellys
The media has been all abuzz the last few days with the quirky plot of Florida college student Kelly Hildebrandt and her engagement to… Kelly Hildebrandt.
“He is hardly everything that I’ve ever looked for,” the female Kelly, 20, told interviewers, referring to her days hubby, who has the same name. “There’s always been certain qualities that a guy has to have. And he has all the ones I could think of – and more.” (Like her surname!)
How expedient: the female Kelly won’t have to alter her legal documents and, if she has anything monogrammed – towels, robes, linens – that poppycock doesn’t have to be changed either.
The couple did acknowledge that the phrasing of wedding invitations posed a ultimatum, but the inclusion of middle names helped to clarify things. (They say they’ve ruled out naming their kids Kelly, at least for now, or until they get offered a authenticity show, which is more than likely. ‘Kelly & Kelly Plus Kelly’ anyone?)
The two Kellys met through Facebook, a set-up flawlessly suited to our times. The bride-to-be, Kelly Katrina Hildebrandt, was apparently bored one night and undeniable, not unlike countless others before her, to see who else out there in cyberspace shared her name.
Her search generated only one match: Kelly Carl Hildebrandt, 24, of Texas, who piqued her interest enough for her to send him a report.
The male Kelly thought the female Kelly was “pretty cute” – darn reason, you lucky bastard – though he did have suspicions that the two might be cousins or something. (I didn’t realize that was a deal-breaker in Texas…)
