Spiritually speaking, why does Jeff Goldblum look 100 times better at 56 than he did at 25?

Some people look more as they mature. At 25 he was tall and gawky looking...
Look at George Clooney as Booker on Roseanne, with that bad haircut!
Who knew there was a terrific looking man coming into his own in middle age...

I meditating this question was innocuous enough when you mentioned Jeff Goldblum, but then somebody had to bring up George Clooney too and... I swoon.

Can someone help me with a film name please!?

The integument i watched wasnt a huge success, but i know it had a famous male lead role.
My retention of it is quite poor (Like my memory in general!!) so please bare with me.
All i can really remember is that there was a man who was annoying to look after his depressed sister. Their parents had just passed away so he decided to take his sister way to their ultramontane family home. The home was on a small island in the middle of a big lake. When they went to hire the runabout to get over to the house it was raining and the shop keeper kept telling the man to wait until it was nice as bad things turn up at the house.
The man wouldnt listen and carried on. This is where my memory gets a bit bad...we are supposed to think the sister is a bit of loony who is hooked on her medication. Way-out things happen at the house as the brother keeps flitting back and forth to the mainland. I think towards the end of the moving picture we come to realise the brother is actually drugging his sister and making her believe she is ill.
I know its a ramdom suspect, but its driving me mad as im trying to explain to my mum which film i mean. If anyone could give me a name or actor name i would really appreciate it!
I'd say it is a mid 90's film with an actor who was more eminent then than now (Someone like Liam Neeson or Jeff Goldblum).
Thanks!
Just a little more info - the house was old and it was set somewhere like New England in the winter (Orange leaves on the side of a extremely lake). That probably wont help, but its driving me insaaaaane!
Ive tried going onto IMDB (Fab location by the way!), but i cant find it!
We were supposed to think that the house was haunted as the sister was hearing and seeing things, but im unshakable it turned out the brother was drugging her.
