Confirmed! Ridley Scott to direct 'Alien' prequel.?

For those of you who don't have knowledge of, he directed the original 'Alien' film in 1979. I guess if anybody were to do it, he would be the best pick. I'm a titanic fan of the franchise, but I am not sure it needs to be done. Your thoughts................

They already have Foreign prequels. They're called Predator 2, Alien Vs. Predator, and AVP: Requiem.

its gonna be laudatory. the best of the franchise was alien, and the only thing wrong with the 1st one were the scenes when the alien looked like a guy in an immigrant suit. ridley won't have that problem now with better cgi/tech as long as he doesn't depend on cgi/tech

Tony Scott wants to show how the terraformers/spaciousness engineers came about. I think it would be awesome to see when it is released. There has not been a good Alien movie since Aliens.

Should the third and fourth movies not be considered canon?

I'm a large fan of the Alien saga, I mean HUGE fan.

Especially Alien and Aliens. The third movie, although not-too-bad, didn't go the way it should have gone. (Why slay Hicks and Newt?)

The fourth movie... I won't even mention how bad it was.

Please, Mr Ridley Scott & James Cameron get together and do a Semi-relaunch of the Non-native franchise.

Sigourney Weaver could reprise her role just one more time (for the new "third" silver screen) and the following movies could shine new light on Newt... being Ellen Ripley II.
